Pronoran (Piribedil) is a drug used for more than four decades to treat Parkinson’s disease. Besides the symptomatic relief in Parkinson’s patients, Piribedil has shown to improve cognitive functions in healthy older adults.
The drug works by stimulating dopamine d2/d3 receptors and inhibiting alpha 2-adrenoceptors.
Indications for use are:
- Age-related cognitive dysfunctions, such as memory and attention impairments
- Parkinson’s disease
- Symptomatic treatment of ocular ischemic syndrome
