Atarax [hydroxyzine]

Atarax (Hydroxyzine) is an antihistamine anxiolytic drug. It is used since 1956 for the treatment of insomnia and anxiety disorders.

Hydroxyzine works by blocking histamine H1 receptors, thus it also can be used to treat allergic conditions. The drug has pronounced anxiolytic and hypnotic activity and does not form addiction unlike typical hypnotics and anxiolytic drugs.
