Mirapex [Pramipexole]

Mirapex (Pramipexole) is a dopaminergic drug used to treat Parkinson’s disease and restless leg syndrome. Several studies also suggest that the drug has antidepressant, neuroprotective, and neurotrophic properties.

Pramipexole is a dopamine receptor agonist and is shown to promote survival of dopaminergic neurons by stimulating the release of endogenous neurotrophic factors BDNF and GDNF.

In the clinical trial on 174 patients with the major depressive disorder, patients that received Pramipexole had a significant improvement in their depressive symptoms.
