Cortexin is a mixture of neuropeptides, amino acids and micronutrients isolated from cattle brains.
It is mostly similar to Cerebrolysin by its pharmacological action and medical uses. However, Cortexin has a different chemical composition as it has more neuropeptides and less amino acids compared to Cererbolysin.
Cortexin was discovered in 1980’s in the Soviet Union as an alternative for Austrian Cerebrolysin. As of today, it is used in Russian medicine to treat various organic brain diseases in adults and children.
Indications for use are:
- Cerebrovascular diseases
- Traumatic brain injury
- Cognitive impairments
- Epilepsy
- Asthenic conditions (chronic fatigue)
- Decreased mental capacity
- Developmental delays in children
- Cerebral palsy
