SEMAX
Semax is a peptide nootropic drug based on a fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone, used in nasal spray form. It was developed in the Soviet Union in the 1980s.

Recommended dosage is 2-3 drops of nasal spray in each nostril four times a day. The length of the treatment course is 10-14 days. The course can be repeated if necessary.
Indications for use depend on the dosage form.
Indications for Semax 0.1% are:
- Cognitive impairments caused by the cerebrovascular disorder, traumatic brain injuries and neurosurgery.
- Encephalopathy, neurotic disorders, and recovery after stroke.
- Improvement of adaptive capacity of the human organism in extreme conditions.
- Prophylaxis of mental exhaustion during stressful monotonous work.
- Optic nerve atrophy.
- Cognitive disorders in kids above 7 years old, including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
The indication for use of 1% Semax solution is the acute ischemic stroke.
Contraindications for use are age below 7 years old, pregnancy and lactation, acute psychiatric disorders followed by anxiety, spasms, and hypersensitivity to the drug.
Possible side effect is irritation of the nasal mucosa and allergic reactions.
